The
Government Office for the North East is one of
9 regional offices, which together with the Regional
Co-ordination Unit form part of the Office of
the Deputy Prime Minister.
The
Government Offices for the Regions were originally
set up in 1994. They provide a regional
presence or carry out functions for several Government
Departments.
